PHASE 1 COMPLETE!!!

It is official! Phase 1 of potty training Logan is COMPLETE! He has had absolutely NO ACCIDENTS this week and he can even pee on command! Phase 1 is going on the potty at home with no clothes on.

Today we started Phase 2- going potty at home with clothes on. So far no accidents today, but we will see. Once he gets Phase 2 then we are moving on to Phase 3- going potty with clothes on in public. My goal was to have him trained by his second birthday. I am not sure if Phase 3 will be done by then but atleast we are getting close! Yay for Logan!!! And yay for mommy having less diapers to change and less accidents to clean up!!!

Selling Our House

We met with our friend/realtor, Kari, this morning. She is listing our house for a short sale. We are hoping that an offer will be made and that the bank will accept it. We shall see! I am a little nervous about having a stream of strangers comming to look at my house. Here is our beautiful home. I really will miss it. I can't help but think this is where Logan took his first steps, where Aila learned to crawl and Logan learned to go potty. I definitely have a sentimental attachment to this house. It is not just a house that we our selling it is our Home Sweet Home.

Another Fabulous Creation

Granny made Aila another beautiful dress. She is so sweet because she knows how much I love butterflies so she made this out of a butterfly pattern:

Mommy I'm Up

When Logan wakes up from his nap he will go to his door and knock on it and say "Mommy Up" to let me know he is awake and so that I will let him out of his room. Yesterday this is how I found him:

He had taken his poopy diaper off which got all over him and put one of Aila's skirts on! Yuck! What a crazy boy!

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I have never been much of a spender. I was always the "saver". In fact, between Doug and I, Doug is the shopper of the family. LOL Lately though there have been such cute kid's clothes on sale that I couldn't help but purchase a few cute things. Here is an adorable outfit I got for Aila that was on clearance for $4.oo!

I Knew There Had To Be Something Good!

I get these emails sent to me weekly about new research in childhood development and the one I got today was about morning sickness. I really wish I had read this when I was pregnant and puking my brains out! For all of my prego friends out there going through morning sickness read and be encouraged! Lindsay with how sick you get your babies are sure to be geniuses!:

Morning sickness linked to smarter babies
Thu, Apr 23, 2009 (HealthDay News) -- Children born to mothers who have morning sickness may be smarter than those whose moms don't have nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, suggests a new study.

Researchers found that the children of mothers with morning sickness scored higher on tests designed to assess children's IQ and mental acuity, the Canadian Press reported.

But while this difference was statistically significant, it doesn't mean that children born to mothers who didn't have nausea during pregnancy are developmentally slow, said senior author Dr. Gideon Koren, director of the Motherisk Program at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. It's just that the other children scored higher on the tests.

The study appears in the Journal of Pediatrics.

Nausea has long been recognized as a sign of a healthy pregnancy, according to the CP. Pregnant women who have morning sickness are less likely to have a miscarriage and less likely to have babies with congenital cardiovascular problems.

Mark's Bday

Yesterday was Doug's brother's birthday. We went to church, let the kids take a nap and then we ran to Home Depot to get his present. After all that running around we took the kids to Mark and Jen's to celebrate. While we were there our friends Jessica, Lindsay and Tristan came over. Jessica is a photographer and she took some pictures of us. She is amazing at photography and for those of you who have asked me for photographer reccomendations she is IT! I have cards and when she puts the pics on her site I will post a link for you to see them. We also had not seen Lindsay and Tristan in forever! They were living in Germany for a while but now they are finally back! I can't believe how big Tristan is. I think Logan, Tristan and Grace all had fun playing together.

Toy Town and Sickies

On Wednesday I took the kids to Toy Town and met up with Amber. The place was small but it was really cute. It had a whole little village for kids with little houses and shops. It also had a bouncer and a train table and a bunch of toys. It started out great but then it got crowded and Logan was the worst behaved he has ever been. Then Aila started to cry and would not stop no matter what (which is so not like her) so we left Toy Town and went to Amber's house so I could teach her how to decorate cakes. I put Logan down for a much needed nap but Aila just would not go to sleep (again so not like her). I decided to call the doctor to see if I could get her in but the only appointment was for the next morning. I scheduled it thinking that maybe nothing was really wrong and I was just imagining it or that whatever it was could wait until the next day....

Boy was I wrong! Poor little Aila started throwing up like crazy! She vomitted 4 times in a period of 3 hours. We decided to take her to the Good Night Pediatrics office (what a lifesaver! way better than the ER or Urgent Care). The doctor checked her out and said she had the flu. We had to stay there until Aila could hold down her liquids so they could make sure she was not dehydrating. We gave her 5 mls of pedialite every 5 minutes. She passed the test and we went home. I was up almost all night with her, constantly giving her the pedialite. She wanted to be held and she would wake up and cry when her tummy hurt. It was so sad. The good news is she was pretty much all better by Thursday evening and fully recovered by Friday. Now she is back to her old happy self.
