Sheppard Update - October

Hey everyone! October totally snuck up on me! It is already the 7th and I just realized today that it is October! Haha! Things are going pretty well for us. Our house is oficially sold! YAY!!! It is so nice to have that burden off of our back. We were very fortunate that the couple who bought our house are investors and they are letting us rent it back for half of what our mortgage was! Plus we didn't have to pay any deposits and we are able to move as long as we give them a 30 day notice, which is ideal since we still don't know what Doug's job situation is going to be.

The kids are both doing great. Logan's vocabulary is soaring and he is always talking. He is always asking, "What's that?". When asked he can tell you his first, middle and last name, how old he is, how old his sister is, where he lives, who is the president, what color his eyes are and so much more! Aila's walking has quickly turned into running and climbing which has led to quite a few bumps and bruises! I am sure you can see them in her pics on our blog. I call her our accident prone child. She is always getting hurt. I just want to stick her in a bubble!

This past month we drove 16 hours to Texas so Doug could take a test for a fire department down there. Although Doug did well on the test, only the top 60 scores moved on to the next level. We were pretty bummed that he was not in the top 60 but atleast we got to see lots of family while we were out there. We left Logan with his Mimi and she took him to Louisiana for 10 days. They will be flying back tomorrow and we can't wait to see our little man!

Doug's business is the slowest it has ever been right now. He is currently applying for whatever jobs he can find in our area. He also applied to Colorado for some of their fire departments and will be flying out there Novemeber 2nd to take a test. Maybe we will have better luck there? He finishes his EMT class in December and he is able to complete his CPAT (the physical test for firemen) in 8 min and 45 sec!!! Still no news from LA, although "supposedly" it still looks like it is "going to happen". I won't be holding my breath for that day! LOL We are considering an option where Doug might possibly be able to be a church planter out there and we could live in seminary housing and he could finish his masters while starting a church.

We are not sure what is going to happen. All we know is that something has to change by January! Please keep us in your prayers as our future is so up in the air and we are both becomming a bit frustrated and weary! We know that God has a plan we just have no idea what direction He wants us to move in. Pray for wisdom and patience especially!

Love you all!
XOXO,
DoUg, NeSsa, LoGaN, & AiLa
