What a Mess!!!

Those of you who have visited our home recently have probably noticed that we keep every single door closed. There is a reason for that- we are trying to keep out hurricane Logan! Well this morning Vanessa left the bathroom door open for only a minute to go and answer her phone and the next thing she knew the bathroom was covered in toilet paper! Logan is so fast! Vanessa definitely won't be making that mistake again!

Taking a Bath...Outside!

Logan was begging us to play outside in our yard but it was sooooooo hot! So Doug decided to get a tupperware container from our garage and fill it with water. We brought Logan's bath things outside and gave him an outdoor bath. He had so much fun!

Laundry Day

On laundry day this week, Vanessa finally figured out how to be able to fold clothes without Logan unfolding them and throwing them on the floor.... she let him play in the laundry basket! He really like it and it helped her get done faster!

Sunday afternoon at Granny and Papa's

On Sunday after church we went to vistit Doug's parents. Logan had a blast playing over there. His Papa read him and his cousin stories and Doug played this game where he rolled a giant exercise ball over them and they were cracking up.

Saturday Night Family Dinner

On Saturday night Nessa's family came over for dinner. It was a lot of fun to be able to all get together! Logan hadn't seen his cousins in a long time so it was really great for them all to play!

36 Weeks Prego

Vanessa is officially full term! 36 weeks pregnant! YAY! She had a doctor appointment today and everything is looking good. Vanessa's test came back negative for gestational diabetes so she is really happy about that! Aila's heart sounds good and strong and she has "dropped". The only concern the doctor has is..... you guessed it... Vanessa is measuring small! LOL They estimated that Aila weighs 4.5 lbs riht now. So next week we will have another ultra sound (our 4th one which is nothing compared to the 10-12 we had with Logan). At 36 weeks, the average baby is about 13 inches long from crown to rump and weighs about 6 pounds. This week a baby's gums have become rigid, the sucking muscles are now fully developed, the brain is developing rapidly, and babies begin to practicing blinking! This week Vanessa will be packing her hospital bag, scheduling a tour of the hospital, trying to gather some premie sized baby girl clothes (they think Aila will be even smaller than Logan so she deifnitely won't fit in newborn clothes when she is born!), and finishing organizing the nursery. So much nesting and so little time! Here is a pic of Nessa's belly at 36 weeks:

Reptile Expert

On Wednesday, Vanessa and Doug took Logan to the library to see the reptile expert. He had tons of lizzards and snakes and Doug and Vanessa even learned some things! Logan liked seeing the reptiles, but was a little antsy when the presenter was lecturing in between. Logan especially liked the giant iguana!

Park Time!

On Tuesday night, Vanessa decided to get out of the house and took Logan to the park. Logan was alot braver this time and climbed all the way to the top by himself. He even went through the tunnel! He is still a little frightened by the slide, but he likes it if Vanessa holds him on her lap. Check out the fun they had:

Logan's First Hair Cut

Technically, Vanessa has been trimming Logan's hair for a while so that it wouldn't cover his ears or eyes. But this week Doug took his clippers and gave Logan a fade. Logan was moving all over the place, but Doug still did an awesome job. Check out Logan's big boy hair do:

Hanging at Granny and Papa's

After Vanessa's mom's group graduation we went to Doug's parents house to say hi. It was the first time Doug ventured out of the house since his surgery and he did quite well. Logan was getting cabin fever so it was good to get him out of the house. He had fun playing with his granny, papa, and cousin. Here are the pics:
(Notice how Logan and Papa are scratching their chins at the same time! LOL)

Granny and Papa always have lots of fun toys at their house:

Mom's Group Graduation

Well yesterday was the Mercy Gilbert Breastfeeding Support Mom's Group Graduation. This group was a tremendous help to Vanessa and without it she would not have lasted the 9-10 months of nursing that she did! The group not only gave her support, but friends for both her and Logan! The lactation consultant who leads it is so AMAZING and extremely dedicated. Vanessa will definitely be calling her if Aila has any nursing issues! It is sad that it has come to an end (the mom's graduate out of the group when their baby turns a year) but many of the moms still get together and have started their own little "graduates" playgroup. Here are the pics of the graduation:
This is one of Vanessa's friends (her little girl is Logan's age and she is prego with her second and due on the same day as Vanessa!):

35 Weeks Prego

Vanessa is now 35 weeks pregnant! One more week until she is oficially considered "full term", meaning that Aila can be born any time after that and be healthy! YAY! Although it is still another 4 weeks until her due date, but we know it will go by quickly. Aila is really sitting low and feels like she is going to fall out at any time! LOL Vanessa will start going to the doctor every week from here on out. Her next appointment is on Friday. At 35 weeks, the average baby now measures about 12 inches from crown to rump and likely weighs more than 5.5 pounds. Most babies fingernails reach the end of the fingertips by this week and the lungs are almost fully developed. Here is a 3d image of what a baby looks like at 35 weeks (this is not Aila):

Doug's Surgery

Doug had his double ahernia surgery this week. We got to the hospital at 7 am. Doug had tons of visitors before the surgery. Thanks Paula, Wayne, Debbie, Ed and Max! You really helped keep his mind off of things. The surgery only took a little over an hour and then he was in recovery for about an hour and a half. When he woke up from the surgery he freaked out a little bit and they had to sedate him quickly. He is a real trooper! He didn't even get sick from all of the drugs they gave him. We went home after that and Doug's mom and aunt went to go pick up the perscription pain meds for Doug and to get us lunch. Well the surgeon wrote two perscriptions on one perscription sheet and so they could not fill the perscription! Because it was a pain med they couldn't just call in the perscription either. So Vanessa's mom had to go all the way to the hospital in Tempe to pick up a new perscription and bring it all the way to Queen Creek. Thanks Dee Dee! What a stupid doctor! The surgery went well, but it is going to be a long road to recovery. Doug can't do any lifting for atleast a month. He is in a lot of pain and is on a ton of meds. It is hard for him to move around and he is not able to sleep well : ( Please be praying for him to feel better and for his job situation. They turned down his worker's comp and there is no short term disabilty in AZ. He will most likely need to find another job. Thanks for all of your prayer and concerns! Thanks also to Family of Faith Fellowship for bringing us meals! It is such a relief not to have to worry about cooking and really helps us to just focus on Doug's healing! Here are some pics of Doug waiting for his surgery:

Fun on the Golfcourse

The night before Doug's surgery we all went to Vanessa's parents' house for dinner. Vanessa's mom wanted to make Doug a "Last Supper". The food was delicious and we were so stuffed! After dinner, Doug took Logan to play on the golf course. Logan loved running up and down the hills. We wore him out so that he would sleep good for his nana. Here are the pics:

Ryan's Birthday Party

The second party we went to on Saturday was for our cousin Ryan. It was so much fun and the food was so yummy! It was great to see all of our family and Logan loved chasing their little dog and swimming in their pool. Here are the pics:

Logan was so tired from the last party that he layed on the floor to drink his cup:

Then it was time to chase the dog:

Tristan's Birthday Party

On Saturday we had two birthday parties to go to! How fun! The first one we went to was for Logan's friend Tristan. Tristan was Logan's first friend. We went to church with Tristan's parents and Logan and Tristan would play during the service. We have missed Tristan for a while because he and his family are living temporaril in Germany (how cool is that?!). It was so great to see them all at Tristan's party. Here are the pics:
Doug and Logan dressed and ready to go to the party:
