Louisiana Day 3

Day 3: Monday-
Today we took the kids to feed the ducks at a pond. These ducks and geese were very aggressive and scared us a bit. They even took crackers right out of Doug's hand. Afterwards we went to a playground behind a church. It was a very old playground and it even had a seesaw. Logan enjoyed the swing and Vanessa, Paula and Aila all went on the seesaw. We decided that next we would go to Good Will to look at some clothes and Vanessa and Doug both found some steals! We definitely need to shop there more often! You would not believe how many things were brand new! We started to get hungry so we met Wayne, and Paula's friend Patty, at a place called Luke and Laurel's. The wait for the food was FOREVER but the food was so yummy that it was all worth it.

Louisiana Day 2

Day 2: Sunday-
Today Doug preached at a church in a town called Simmsport. It is about an hour away from Paula and Wayne's. The church was a little country church and the people were so sweet. Doug gave an awesome message (God has so gifted him!), although Logan had a hard time paying attention (he is only 17 months old afteall) so Wayne took him outside to play since they did not have nursery. After church a family invited us to their house for a fish fry, where Doug ate what he says he ate "the best catfish" of his life (Vanessa brought a turkey sandwhich..teehhee). Logan played with the other kids and even got to ride an ATV! He was alittle afraid though.

Louisiana Day 1

Day 1: Saturday-
Well after a night of Halloween fun we had to get up early the next morning to head to the airport. Vanessa hates flying and is always way stressed out when it comes to traveling. She could not wait until the end of the day when we would all be in Paula and Wayne's apartment. The morning started off well. We met Vanessa's mom and she drove us to the airport (thanks mom!). We got there on time and had no problems checking in or getting our seats on the plane. The flight was 3 hours long and surprisingly both kids did well! We thought Logan would have a hard time sitting still but he really did great! We even had an empty seat in our row so he was able to sit between us and play. After we landed things were not as smooth. We got our bags ok but they lost our car seat. Vanessa was so upset. They gave us one to use for the week, but it was very complicated (and a PAIN IN THE BUTT all week!) It was great to be off the plane though, and to see Granny and Papa ofcourse! We landed in New Orleans which meant we still had a three hour drive to Alexandria. We loaded up the car (after 30 minutes of trying to figure out car seats!) and we went through a drive through for a bite to eat. We began the drive and both kids fell asleep! It was so peaceful, until about the last hour of the trip. Both kids were screaming their heads off and we could not wait to get out of the car. We finally got to Granny and Papa's and we went to bed. We were definitely tired after a long day of traveling.

Logan found this car right away at Granny and Papa's. It was like he knew where it was!:

Out of Town

We are so excited to go visit Granny and Papa in Louisiana! We will be able to spend a whole week with them! We have missed them so much!!! We'll post all the pics from our trip next week. Pray that we have a safe trip and that the kids do ok on the plane!

Happy Halloween!

We had a very full day planned for Halloween. In the morning, Vanessa took the kids to her old nursing support group for their annual Halloween party. It was so great to see everyone again and Logan loved getting to play with all of his old pals.

Logan and his friend Kylie both have a new sibling:

After the party, Vanessa took the kids to Nana's house. Logan loved Nana's decorations! We met Logan's cousins there and we all got ready to go trick or treating together.

The biggest pumpkin we have ever seen:

When we finished trick or treating (we had tons of candy!) we went to a fall festival at Spring of Life Church. They had free hay rides, games, bouncers, food, trunk or treating, concerts and even a huge fire works show! Logan loved the hay ride and even tried to sing along. He went in a bouncer for the first time in his life and we are not sure he liked it. He did not jump and stayed on his hands and knees. We didn't think he liked it, but then he wanted to go in again. The second time did not go so well because in the middle of his turn they started the fireworks and Logan was petrified. We got him out and asked him if he liked the fireworks and he kept shaking his head NO and doing the signs for bye bye and sleep, so that is what we did (with Logan clinging for dear life onto Vanessa).

It was an awesome Halloween! Holidays are so much more fun when you get to see your kids enjoying them!

Aila's First Pedicure

On Wednesday Vanessa painted Aila's toe nails for the first time. It was not easy since her nails are so small. They came out cute though! Check it out:

Aila is Precious

Aila is 11 weeks old this week! She is getting so big. She is smiling more and more and starting to coo more! She has her daddy's personality (very chill and laid back). She likes to be held A LOT and she loves lots of kisses!

Pumpkin Fun

Today Logan and Aila decorated their first pumpkin with some friends. Each kid got 1/4 of the pumpkin to decorate. Logan got marker all over him and he needed a bath when we finished. Vanessa did Aila's side for her. Check out their masterpiece:
